When you buy a MADSEN, you’re not just getting a bike, you’re joining a community. And honestly? It’s one of the very best parts of the whole experience.
Back in 2008, when MADSEN first started as one of the very first U.S. cargo bike companies, it was rare to see a cargo bike out in the wild. Spotting one was unusual — and you’d definitely get some stares and funny looks. You had to be a little brave, maybe even a bit of a nonconformist, to ride one. But over the past 18 years, we’ve watched the cargo bike movement and the MADSEN community grow into something truly special. Our bikes now roll through every state in the U.S. and many countries around the world. Everywhere they go, they bring people together.
A COMMUNITY LIKE NO OTHER
MADSEN owners are some of the kindest, most adventurous, and genuinely fun people you’ll meet. They wave to other riders they pass on the street. They offer tips to new families just starting out. They share ideas, photos, and laughs... in the school line, at parks, and on playgrounds. The RAVE about their bucket bikes! And get overly excited when they see another MADSEN ride by!

We LOVE our MADSEN owners. From new moms and dads, cargo bike enthusiasts who carry anything and everything in the bucket, grandparents, business owners and more. From those riding a brand-new MADSEN model to those pedaling a well-loved, road-worn first generation that’s carried years of memories...you’re all an essential part of the MADSEN family. Whether you’ve been with us from the early days or just joined the ride, every ride tells a story, and we’re honored to be part of yours.
One of the things we admire most about this community is your creativity. From parade bikes to tricked-out holiday rides, and especially the unforgettable Halloween MADSEN bike costumes…you continually blow us away. What started as a few fun photos turned into an annual tradition, inspiring costume contests, parade bike decor, and even the beloved MADSEN Challenges Badges. The spark came from within the community itself, and we’ve been riding with it (and adding to it) ever since.
Truly, the MADSEN just begs to be made into something even more fun! And you, the riders, make that happen in so many ways. Making memories is what you do best!
We’ve seen lifelong friendships form through this community. Families plan bike rides together. Neighbors show up for one another in big and small ways. Riders spread the MADSEN love everywhere they go. It’s tight-knit, it’s welcoming, and it keeps growing in the best way.
FINDING FRIENDS ON THE MADSEN MAP
One of our newer tools for connection is the MADSEN Map — a living, interactive map where owners around the world can drop a pin and connect with others in their area. Want to find a riding buddy in your city? Planning a move or trip and curious who’s nearby? Ask questions? The map makes it easy.
It’s more than just a cool feature — it’s a visual reminder that you’re never riding alone. Whether you’re in a small town in the Midwest, the heart of a big city, or halfway around the world, there’s a good chance a fellow MADSEN rider isn’t far away.

As a small, family-owned company, we never imagined the kind of connections that would grow around this bike. The stories, the friendships, the people...they’re what keep us going every single day.
